New people bring new experiences, new hobbies, and plenty of laughs. So, why not make the coming year your year for meeting new people? There are so many benefits to getting out there and mixing with others.

The joys of conversation

Meeting new people gives you the chance to engage with another person’s point of view. A chat with an interesting person can provide you with ideas about new books to read, new hobbies to try or a new way of seeing the world. Practice a foreign language, debate your favourite films, or make a firm friend for life.

Mental wellbeing

Getting out there and making new friends and acquaintances is a real boost to our wellbeing. Interacting with others helps us to relax, smile and laugh – all of which are great for busting stress. Chatting about our day is brilliant for relieving anxiety whilst having a buddy to grab a cup of coffee with in your lunch break or to take to a new art exhibition in your local area can really enhance the whole experience. Life becomes more varied, interesting and exciting when you have some new people to share it with.

Exploring the city

Meeting up with some new people is also a brilliant way to explore your local area – and beyond. What better motivation to check out the nicest cafes, head down to the latest films, or try out the most outlandish cocktails at a local bar. When you start going to meetups with new people, you will surely experience much more than you would have done alone.

Age is no barrier

It is a common misconception that it becomes hard to make friends as you get older. The idea goes that once people hit their 30s, they already have established their friendship groups and are reluctant to make new friends. This is not true at all. You can make new friends and acquaintances at any age. And, even if you already have a great friendship group, you can always benefit from meeting new people and trying new things. So, remove those mental barriers and take the plunge! Some great experiences will be right around the corner in 2017 if you open yourself up to the prospect of meeting up with new people.

Want to know more?

If you are intrigued by this idea, and want a practical way for meeting new friends and acquaintances in your area, then head on down to https://www.mixingout.com/ and you will have all that you need to get started.

Life is about happiness and sharing moments with the people around us. Not only is this an enjoyable way to pass the days, it can actually help improve your health and increase your life expectancy. Happiness and positive human relationships have been scientifically linked to longer life expectancy. This means that you have more time to indulge in the very best parts of life. Below are 4 reasons to get out into the world, meet new people, and improve your life expectancy.

Have More Fun

Meeting new people is an easy way to have more fun in your daily life. When you make new friends, you have new people to share experiences with, which is always a blast. Different people can bring out different attributes in the way you act, and this is a great way to become more rounded as a person. You will learn how to relish the minute and savour the moment. A coffee is always more delicious when shared with a friend, and the happiness that you cultivate will help improve your overall health.

Be More Active

When you become acquainted with different people, you will become more motivated to be active. You will have more reasons to get out of the house, which will lead to more adventures and activities with your friends. Whether you go out for a walk or join in for a game of football, a more active lifestyle is a clear and simple way of improving your health, and consequently improving your life expectancy.

Build A Stronger Support Network

Life is not always just fun and games. At times, we can be forced to deal with real and serious issues that challenge our very way of life. This can be especially difficult when you face these hardships alone. Meeting new people can help you build a stronger support network, which means that you will have more people to help you in times of need, both emotionally and physically. You never know when you will need a friend’s help.

Positive Influences On Your Life

Surrounding yourself with good people is a great way to improve your own daily habits. When you spend time with people who inspire you to be better, it is an easy method of strengthening positive practices for a better life. It is much easier to eat healthy, exercise, and fulfil your potential as a person when you have others to share it with.

Almost everyone in their lifetime will have moved at least once, either from the place they grew up in or perhaps a new job can cause people to leave their social life and a strong link of friends behind to make a go of it in a new city. Consequently, everyone is keen to meet new people in a new area and here are a couple of tips how to do so.

Being Active

It is very easy to relocate to a big town and be very excited to do lots of different fun things and click ‘going’ on different events, however there is a big difference to actually going ahead and turning up to these things, rather than having a load of your old friends commenting on your post saying ‘have fun, glad you are mixing out’. You must stay on your toes, be open-minded and have a go-get attitude. Sign up to MixingOut and meet like-minded who love going out all the time. Once attending these events make sure to be kind, open and charming and people will be drawn to you and making friends will become very simple and fun.

Mutual friends

MixingOut is obviously the best way to meet new people but you can also find ‘Friends of friends’ to expand your social circle. It is fascinating how the world is such a small place and everyone is interlinked, hence the theory of six handshakes. Especially, with modern technology and social networking of today, finding mutual friends has never been easier. Those mutual friends will not only make an addition to your friends list yet also will introduce you to others and so on.

Take advantage of your situation

If you have moved, you have done so for a reason, most of the time the reason is work. Take advantage at the work place, make sure to introduce yourself to colleagues and strike up conversation. A work place on its own will offer many opportunities to make friends, as some would be in the same position that you are in. There would be plenty of corporate events, parties, seminars etc. Nonetheless, the reason that you chose to move to an area is irrelevant. As long as you don’t waste time and make the most any social situation you are part of.

On the whole, meeting new people is a wonderful exercise as it is fun and exciting, sometimes a bit nerve wrecking of course, however it takes you out of your comfort zone and lets you enjoy the amazing experience of socializing. MixingOut is the easiest way to have fun and meet new people, who are just like you. So, what are you reading this for, get on the site and join some events!

Work can be overwhelming and sometimes there is no time to plan or actively search for things to do in the evenings. This is why MixingOut is such a great place for people who are busy and want to be able to get involved in a variety of different events in the evening, ranging from dog walks to pub quizzes to going out to nightclubs. MixingOut is a great place to make friends and enhance your social life, but most importantly to have some FUN!

A ton of events in your area

MixingOut is very convenient, as soon as you register on the website, you will need to enter your postcode which will allow the system to come up with dozens of different evening events which are in your area. The interface of the website is very simple and in the section – ‘what’s on’ you will be able to see all that goes on around you. It is very simple to find something to do in the evening as many are keen to be joined for a nice dinner at, for instance, Jamie Oliver’s restaurant and some would want to hit the nightclubs of Nottingham. Yet, it’s not all going out, there is a lot of relaxing stuff, such as, chilled out dog walks with friends or afternoon tea. Sometimes it is as simple as a few people getting together in the evening to have a few drinks and play some cards.

Meeting new people

MixingOut is a great place to meet new people, as it is primarily a platform, which serves the purpose of bringing people closer together and allowing people to make new friends in order to make your evenings more exciting and fun. The website allows you to create your own events, which is a fantastic opportunity to invite people who are just like you to an event of your choosing, for example, you could suggest an evening trip to the cinema for Thursday night since no one wants to miss Kung-Fu Panda 3! Whatever the activity is your evenings should be cheerful in the warm company of your newly made friends.

Huge amount of fun

Evenings are all about having fun, after a stressful day at work, or perhaps a dull one, all one wants to do is brighten up the mood, MixingOut recognises this and is keen to offer you the most exciting, up-to-date events in your area and the surroundings. There is a ton of stuff happening around you which you might not even realise is going on, so if you are sitting at home on Friday afternoon and dreaming about a weekend trip to Amsterdam, look no further as MixingOut will almost definitely have all your evening desires already planned and people notified.

To find out what’s on in your area sign up for free with MixingOut right here: http://mixingout.com/

Although it requires a certain… je nais se qua to organise and host a MixingOut event, it’s probably not as difficult as you may think. In fact, we’ve made the whole process as simple as possible.

Yes, there are a few qualities needed in order to ensure a successful get-together. But otherwise anybody who loves going out, making new friends and having a good time can do it.

Still unsure whether you’ve got what it takes? Here’s a few things to consider when organising your own event with MixingOut.

Share the things you love

People have a much better time when whoever hosts an event has a genuine love for what they’re doing at the time. If leaping out of a plane isn’t your idea of fun, don’t organise a parachute jump for the sake of attracting more members.

Do something you truly enjoy, this is what resinates with other people the most. After all, sharing the things you love is the best way of getting to know people.

Nervous? No biggie!

If you’re worried about confidence (or a lack thereof)getting in the way of hosting an event then welcome to club! In fact, we’d consider it a little strange if you didn’t feel a little nervous – especially when it’s your first time. The most important thing to remember is everybody else in attendance will probably be as nervous as you are… and once those initial feelings of nerves are dealt with (openly shared/copious amounts of drink) then everything will fall into place.

You don’t need a qualification in events planning to organise a successful get-together, just being genuinely interested in meeting new people and having a good time is all that really matters.

Your city, your rules

We do our best to keep everybody up to date with local goings on, but nobody knows your city better than you do (unless you’re new in town but we’ll get to that in a second). Use what you know about the places you’ve already visited to come up with an idea for your next event.

Alternatively, if you’ve just moved and don’t know the city too well, propose a ‘get to know the city’ type of event and invite people to show you around. This could be fun, useful, and interesting way of meeting new people whilst getting to know your new home.

It’s nice to get some downtime now and again, but when things start to go awry you know it’s time to get up off the sofa and have some fun outside. In case you can’t tell the difference between a day off and a write-off, here’s 6 signs to look out for:

You’re surfing channels like an Australian pro

Whatever‘s on television, it’s not something you want to watch. As a result, you’re constantly flicking over, surfing channels like an Australian pro, in the hopes of landing on something that might interest you in the slightest.

Sadly you’ve either seen it before, seen it too many times, or can’t stand Holly Willoughby.

Wikipedia is more enthralling than you remember

Whether or not it’s a credible source of information doesn’t matter, all of a sudden Wikipedia is the most enthralling thing on the Internet – scratch that, the world!

Instead of actually reading whatever is at the top of Amazon’s bestseller list, or investing days in a Breaking Bad boxset, you’re glimpsing over the synopsis in a fraction of the time.

Everybody else is having fun, obviously

You can’t be sure, and without resorting to Facebook there is no way to prove it – but you’re fairly certain everybody in the world is having a better time than you.

For the first time in forever, you feel guilty about not exercising

Usually you couldn’t care less about how many sit-ups you can do, or that your arms aren’t quite ‘big’ enough, but for some reason this is really eating away at you today. You should be pumping iron, eating protein, piling on the muscle. Everybody else is winning at fitness and you’re just a scrawny, out of shape weakling!

It’s 2am and you’re still on Wikipedia

You don’t know how it’s happened, but somehow you’ve found yourself on a Wiki page detailing the last recorded witch-burning. Why this interests you, you cannot say, but it does, and it’s probably going to get even creepier until you fall asleep.

You’ve discovered your tea ‘limit’

Until this point you never knew how many cups of tea you drink in a single day. It’s seven. For everybody, it’s seven.

Have you attended a few Mixing Out events and now find yourself thinking ‘I could do that, I could host the most amazing event’?

Well, if you haven’t noticed from the prompts around the site already, YOU CAN!! You could be the host/hostess with the most/mostess.

Your event should very much represent you and your interests, and you will find that those with similar interests will come flooding to join you. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a night on the town, a girly shopping trip, or bowling – whatever you want to do with other people then put on an event for it.

In case you’re wondering just how easy it is to put on an event lets quickly run through the steps to creating a Mixing Out event:

Give your event a catchy title and put enough information in it to draw people in – don’t make it too long though!

Provide as much information as possible about the event – go on, sell it to us. If you can make the event sound fun and unmissable then people will want to join you. Be sure to set a member limit if you want to keep it cosy.

Set the event location, time, and date – if you need to provide more information for getting there or where to meet then please do!

Besides a few others boxes that you can fill in to add a bit more to your event, that’s it! It really is that easy and quick to add your event – then you just wait for the bookings to fly in.

Interested? You may already be aware that to become an organiser typically requires a certain Sociability score. BUT you can skip that process and apply to upgrade your account for free and become and organiser right now!

Click here to apply to become an organiser: http://mixingout.com/info/start-fun-where-i-am

Wherever you go, whether it’s down to your local ghetto or across the other side of the world to some distant shanty in the middle of nowhere – it certainly pays to know the lingo. Otherwise, who can say what kind of trouble a simple misunderstanding of the term “blood-pact” may get you in to?

Whilst you aren’t going to find yourself in nowhere near as a precarious situation as a gangland shooting, it’s still worth brushing up on the appropriate vernacular for your next MixingOut get-together. So with that being said, we’ve put together some useful slang that should see you in good stead nicely…. maybe.

Brofie (Bro-fee)

A “selfie” with your bro. In other words, a picture that’s been taken on your smartphone of you (by you) and another guy, in full-on “selfie” pose.

There’s probably a female equivalent but an all girl selfie is such a regular occurrence, there doesn’t seem a need to give it a name. Sorry, ladies.

Oskilio (Osk-ee-leo)

Taken from the Alpha, Bravo Alphabet; Oskilio combines Oscar and Kilo to mean O.K. (as in everything is okay) and mashes it together with “coolio” – a painfully outdated term meaning pretty much the same thing.

We predict it will be HUGE, quickly making its way into the English dictionary along with “selfie” and “twerk”, before succumbing to absolute obscurity. So you might not want to use it by the time this post goes live…

Minesweeper (Mine-sweeper)

Somebody who goes around blagging drinks at a party or at a bar amongst a group of friends, only to avoid the very same people who have already bought them a drink (and possibly expect one in return) upon their second go-around.

Snappening (Snap-en-ing)

When something newsworthy is taking place abruptly on Snap Chat. Kind of like a live rundown of a good night out, including the buildup and the aftermath.

You might be a bit too old for trick or treating but that shouldn’t stop you from going out and meeting friends this Halloween. October 31st is right around the corner and as part of our special Halloween Survival Guide, we’ve put together this list of things to do for all you guys who really want to get into the spirit of things.

Hospitality Halloween

What is it: A monster line-up of some of the best live music acts and DJ’s, at one of the city’s biggest venues.

Where is it: The O2 Academy, Crookridge Street, Leeds.

When is it: Friday October 31st from 10pm to 6am.

What to expect: Acts include the likes of drum & bass duo Camo & Krooked, Mia Dora and DJ Pete Graham. So you can expect to be up long after the dead have returned to their graves and a little worse for ware than any remaining zombies stumbling through the streets. If you want to secure entrance then book your tickets here.

The Sin Lounge, Halloween Special

What is it: A night of raving, dancing and scarily good music from House Nation. They’ll also be serving up some special Halloween-themed drinks, so you know you’re going to be in for a really good time!

Where is it: The Sun Lounge, Derby City Centre.

When is it: Saturday November 1st from 7pm to 3am.

What to expect: Banging tunes, great atmosphere and plenty of party revellers. An all-round epic night out for anybody who fancies a good time!

Halloween Story Walks

What is it: A lantern-lit stroll through Allestree with folklore storyteller, Sophie Snell. You’ll stop by some of the area’s creepiest, most haunted locations and hear all about their bloody history.

Where is it: Groups meet at Allestree Hall and progress through the gardens and grounds.

When is it: There’s two variations of this event. One taking place from 5pm and again at 6:30pm for families. And a later walk for adults at 8pm. All walks take place on Thursday October 30th.

What to expect: If you’ve never been on a ghost walk, they can be as entertaining as they are informative. Perfect if you and your friends are interested in folklore and scary goings on. Should make for interesting talk over a few drinks later that night!

Dancers Halloween Jam

What is it: A fancy dress party for everyone of all ages, so even you responsible parents out there can go out and have some fun while the kids are kept entertained. There’ll be karaoke, games, prizes for best costumes and even a photo room for spooky selfies.

Where is it: A little bit out of Derby, this one. The QMX Academy, Nottingham City Centre.

When is it: Friday October 31st from 7pm to 11pm. Bookings must be made before October 28th, so get on it here.

What to expect: Fun, friendly and easygoing. If you’re coming from Derby, with or without the kids in-tow, you’ll need to arrange transport. So don’t expect to be up all hours at this event.
